Every built-in sauna you have priced needed a 240V line, a licensed electrician and sometimes a permit, so the doubt is reasonable. Infrared simply draws less. The Solara plugs into a standard 110V household outlet on an 8 foot cord, 1600W, with nothing added to your panel.

The other half of that message is usually running cost, and the arithmetic is worth showing. At 1600W, forty minutes of full power, a twenty minute heat-up plus a twenty minute session, is 1.07 kWh. At the US average of about 18.4 cents per kWh that is roughly twenty cents, and it does not draw full power once it is up to temperature. So call it under about twenty cents a session at the national average rate, even on the pessimistic version of the maths.

A spare room, a studio, a one-bedroom or a finished garage

Yes to a spare room, a bedroom, a home gym, a basement, or an insulated and finished garage. Yes as well to a corner of a living room, a studio or a one-bedroom, which is where a lot of these end up. It needs a flat wall, a standard outlet and 35 by 37 inches of floor, and that is the whole requirement.

No to a balcony, an uninsulated attic, or anywhere outdoors or exposed to weather. The Solara is an indoor sauna and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong one. If the sauna you want lives outside, the Forge is the one built for it.

It takes 35 by 37 inches of floor and stands 63 inches tall, and it ships flat in two boxes that come through a standard doorway. Measure the doorway and the turn, then take two inches off. Nothing is attached to the house, so there is nothing for a landlord to approve, and it comes apart the way it went together when you move.

Up to 150°F, and it gets there in under twenty minutes

Adjustable from 77 to 150°F, with a 0 to 90 minute timer. It heats while you get changed, which is the difference between a sauna you use and one you plan to use.

Near, mid and far infrared, medical-grade 660nm and 850nm red light in the same session, and built-in chromotherapy with ten colours.

Heat rises, so in an oversized cabin the infrared floats to the ceiling. In a cabin this size it stays on you. The footprint is the reason it performs, not a compromise on the way to something bigger.

On EMF, we would rather give you the number than a badge. Holding a meter against the heater panel, which is the strongest point in the cabin rather than the bench, reads 0.1 mG, against the 200 mG public reference level most safety guidance follows. That is our own measurement, not a laboratory certification, and it is a separate thing from the Intertek materials testing.

One adult, upright, without feeling closed in

There is interior room to sit upright at 6’8". One owner put it better than we can: At 6’1" and 180lbs I fit very well and do not feel closed in.

It is worth being straight about who it is not for. This is the 1-Person. If two adults want to sit in it together, that is the Solara 2-Person at $4,499 against $5,500.

One flat crate on the driveway, then two panels at a time inside

Standard delivery is free and curbside. Orders take about 5 to 7 business days to process before they ship, then an estimated 7 to 12 days in transit. The freight carrier calls to schedule once it is on the way. It arrives flat in two boxes.

Curbside means the boxes come off the truck and stop at the kerb, and they are heavy enough to be a two-person lift from there. If there is nobody to help, that is exactly what the two upgrades are for. Room of Choice at $493 brings it into the room you pick, unpacks it, places it and takes the packaging away. White Glove at $749 does all of that and assembles it, so it is ready the same day. Both include up to 30 minutes of delivery time.
