SaunaBox Solara 1-person infrared sauna next to the VITAL+ XEN Full Spectrum Infrared Sauna in a bright living space

The short answer

Both are 1-person, 100% Canadian Hemlock, full spectrum cabins that reach practically the same heat (158°F vs 160°F). The Solara's red light is made in an FDA-registered facility, its ultra-low EMF is certified by Intertek (IEC 62233), and it is certified free of toxic heavy metals and phthalates. It also costs £3,095 less, comes with a 2-Year warranty instead of 1 year, and takes up less room. The XEN adds more light modes. For one cabin in a real home, the Solara is the stronger buy.

Two hemlock cabins. One publishes its testing.

On paper, these two look close. Both are 1-person indoor cabins built from 100% Canadian Hemlock, both run near, mid and far infrared with 660nm + 850nm red light, and both plug into a standard 110V outlet.

Where they split is what has been independently checked. The Solara's red light is made in an FDA-registered facility. Its ultra-low EMF is certified by Intertek to the IEC 62233 standard, and Intertek certified it free of toxic heavy metals and phthalates under California Prop 65.

VITAL+ lists ETL, CTI and CE certification for the XEN and describes it as ultra-low EMF. Its product page does not publish an EMF test standard, heavy metals or phthalates testing, or an FDA-registered facility for the red light.

The XEN adds a red light panel on an extendable robotic arm, plus 16 chromotherapy modes against the Solara's 10 colours.

And the Solara costs less. On September 14, 2026 it was against $3,095 for the XEN Standard.

Tested where it counts. £3,095 apart.

Two years of cover, without paying extra for it

The Solara ships with a 2-Year warranty. The XEN's standard warranty is 1 year.

VITAL+ sells an extra year for $145. Add it to match the Solara's cover and the XEN comes to $3,240.

That is £3,240 more than the Solara for the same two years of cover.

On a cabin you plan to sit in most days, the second year is the one you want in writing.

Will it fit the room you have in mind?

The Solara measures 35" x 37" x 63". The XEN measures 39" x 41" x 77".

That makes the Solara 4 inches narrower, 4 inches shallower and 14 inches shorter. In a spare bedroom, an office corner or an apartment, those inches decide where a cabin can go.

The lower cabin is on purpose. The Solara is built for seated sessions, keeping the warmth closer to your body instead of heating empty headroom. With about a third less cabin space than the XEN, there is less air to warm before you start to sweat.

It still heats up to 158°F, practically the same top heat as the XEN's 160°F, adjustable from 77°F, and assembles in under 30 minutes with no tools.
