On paper these two look close. Both are 1-person cabins in 100% Canadian Hemlock. Both use 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared light. Both carry a 2-year warranty and plug into a standard household circuit.
The first real difference is heat. The Solara heats up to 158°F. Burneek lists the Onyxeek at a maximum of 150°F.
If you like your sessions hot, the top of the dial is the number that decides it. The Solara also lets you set anywhere from 77°F to 158°F, so the same cabin works for a gentle warm-up or a full sweat.
What does the red light number tell you?
A wavelength tells you what kind of light it is. It does not tell you how much of it reaches you.
That second number is irradiance. The Solara's red light panel uses 60 LEDs that deliver up to 192 mW/cm². It is built into the cabin, at the level where you sit.
Burneek publishes the Onyxeek's wavelengths and says its panel sits in the ceiling, aimed at your face and upper body. It does not publish an LED count or an irradiance figure. When you are paying for red light, it helps to know how strong it is.
Will it fit you, your room and your plans?
SaunaBox publishes the numbers that answer this. The Solara fits one adult up to 6'8" and supports up to 300 lb. It measures 35" x 37" x 63", weighs 172 lb, runs on 110V at 1600W and assembles in under 30 minutes without tools.
The Onyxeek has a slightly smaller footprint at 31.5" x 35.4", and a taller cabin at 67". Burneek does not publish its weight or a height and weight limit.
Then there is the part nobody plans for. If an unused Solara isn't right, SaunaBox refunds the order minus postage within 30 days. Burneek's return policy charges a 25% restocking fee, and the customer pays return shipping. On a $2,499 cabin, 25% is $624.75.
